Efforts to combat illicit financial flows (IFFs) across Africa received a further boost as Zambia officially launched the Anti-Illicit Financial Flows (IFFs) Policy Tracker, becoming the sixth African country to adopt the continental tool.

The Policy Tracker is designed to help countries take an evidence-based approach to identifying policy and administrative gaps, strengthening institutional coordination, and advancing reforms that protect domestic resources and support sustainable development.

The launch was marked by an orientation session hosted by the Zambia Revenue Authority, bringing together national institutions and key partners ahead of an in-country assessment conducted in Lusaka in May 2026.

ATAF participated alongside the African Union Commission and Tax Justice Network Africa to support stakeholders in preparing for the assessment process and to strengthen their understanding of how the tracker can be used to inform policy and administrative reforms.

As a key technical partner in the development and implementation of the Policy Tracker, ATAF is supporting the rollout of the assessment process and helping ensure that findings are translated into practical actions. The results will also inform ATAF’s ongoing technical assistance to Zambia, enabling more coordinated and targeted support in areas identified through the assessment.

Zambia joins Namibia, Uganda, Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, and Liberia in implementing the Policy Tracker, further expanding a continental initiative aimed at strengthening transparency, accountability, and domestic resource mobilisation across Africa.
