Cairo, Egypt – 21 August 2025
An African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF) delegation visited Egypt from 18 – 21 August 2025, as part of ongoing efforts to deepen cooperation with the Egyptian Tax Authority (ETA) and the Ministry of Finance.
During the visit, the delegation was given a tour of the ETA’s state-of-the-art training center, in line with ongoing discussions on the possibility of Egypt hosting ATAF’s training center in both English and Arabic.
The delegation also held extensive discussions with Ms. Rasha Abdel Aal, Head of the Egyptian Tax Authority, and H.E. Dr. Ahmed Kouchouk, Egypt’s Minister of Finance, on strengthening collaboration in several areas. Talks covered Egypt’s possible hosting of the 2026 ATAF Annual Meetings, the expansion of ATAF’s technical assistance programmes, and broader capacity-building initiatives for tax officials.
In addition, Egypt was formally invited to join the African Mutual Assistance in Tax Matters (AMATM) agreement and to support ATAF’s multilateral initiatives, including its contributions to the United Nations framework convention on international tax cooperation.
The visit marked another step in ATAF’s mission to expand partnerships with its member states and strengthen Africa’s collective voice in shaping the global tax agenda.
