“Leadership is not a destination but a continuous journey of growth, collaboration, and impact.”
This was the message delivered to participants of the 3rd Cohort of the ATAF Women in Tax Network (AWITN) Transformational Leadership Programme for Women Junior Managers as they completed the programme.
Delivering closing remarks on behalf of ATAF Executive Secretary, Ms Mary Baine, ATAF Head of Domestic Tax & Capacity Enhancement, Mr Emeka Nwankwo, encouraged participants to embrace leadership as an ongoing commitment to personal development, professional excellence, and service.
Reflecting on the week’s discussions, he highlighted the critical role of taxation in supporting Africa’s development ambitions and strengthening domestic resource mobilisation.
“No matter where we stand, tax affects all of us. As leaders, the question is how we ensure that tax works for our countries and our people,” he said.
Mr Nwankwo also encouraged participants to maintain the professional networks and relationships built during the programme, noting that leadership is strengthened through collaboration and shared learning.
“These are people you can reach out to — a platform to communicate, create, collaborate and walk the journey together. It’s critical that we keep engaging,” he said.
Since its launch, the AWITN Transformational Leadership Programme has empowered 82 women leaders across junior, middle management, and senior executive levels, helping strengthen leadership pipelines within African tax administrations.
As the latest cohort completed the programme, participants were encouraged to carry the impact forward by mentoring others, sharing knowledge within their organisations, and continuing to invest in their leadership development.
